Elena Chapko
Born in Moscow in 1967, Elena Chapko studies art at the College for Artistic Painters then at the Polygraphic Insitute. She is a member of the Union for Artistic Painters and Drawers of Moscow in 1998-9 before moving to France.
Genre compositions (portraits, landscapes, and still-lives) constitute her work. Chapko aims at creating emotions from commonplace situations through a combination of expressive colors. This draws her closer to the impressionists. “The struggle between her perfect harmony and clashing color combinations emanating from her paintings, is subjugating”. (Vladisvlava Goussarova-Cousy) Elena Chapko does not work in situ, but is guided by her imagination and her permanent desire to improvise.
