Anne Douce Marlat´s work is unique. Non-traditional, her painting is sober, neat, efficient, and of a troubling sensuality. Marlat is enigmatic, fascinating, bewitching, sometimes even mysterious. Her oeuvre is a garden where golden thistle, poppies, roses and other such plants grow… A secret garden, where no one wanders and where quietness reigns.

Her portraits are images of intense characters, painted with much precision as if to better demarcate the conscious from the unconscious – lines too painfully exact but nonetheless hiding a certain vulnerability.
